Discover the history behind Cadoris along the shores of the Grand Canal, Venice

ABOUT CADORIS

Cadoris is a clothing brand that focuses on using precious natural fabrics to create shirts and separates for women. Caterina is the creative hand behind the brand and she dips into her Venetian heritage and her love of English tailoring to create a style that is classic and fluid, fusing Dandy details to retell stories about Venice. Form and functionality are essential parts of the design.

Silk cloths are selected from Yorkshire, whilst woollens and lace are sourced from British mills where craft and quality are an age-long tradition. Recycled vintage mother-of-pearls and sustainable corozo buttons are used to maintain a curated experience with sustainability at the forefront. This care is dedicated to every facet of each garment as it is sewn and carefully completed by skilful hands in South East London.

ABOUT CATERINA…

I learned my first sartorial skills from my mother as I sat on her knees as a toddler whilst she tirelessly sewed clothes for the smart ladies of provincial Venice.

My approach to fashion then developed from an instinctive aptitude to professional knowledge after studying Fashion Design and Pattern Cutting in London. I then set up a successful couture studio in the 1993 which featured in several fashion media such as Vogue Magazine, Brides Magazine and The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

With Cadoris, my aim is to go beyond fashion and to construct clothing with a practical purpose in mind whilst retaining elegance. Above all, I seek to create clothing with a good story to tell.

OUR VALUES

Slow+fashion+1.jpg

SLOW ART AND CRAFT

One of the reasons that drives Cadoris is the focus on craftsmanship. We want to design and produce clothes that are special, and this takes a lot of time to produce and complete.

Cadoris does not follow fashion trends. The designs that are produced are inspired by my own perception of beauty and my interpretation of femininity. The collections only comprise of a small number of items as each one is thought through from initial concept to completion in our small production studio in South East London.

SUSTAINABILITY

We are committed to using natural fibres in our garments. This includes using naturally sourced ‘hidden’ parts of our production such as threads and cords employed in the manufacturing process.

Reducing+waste+1.jpg

REDUCING WASTE

All our fabrics are very precious. We take care in positioning patterns on the cloth so to reduce waste. Leftovers pieces of fabric are often used for other projects, such as accessories.

A large part of what we do is made to measure and bespoke, so the cloth is only cut for a customer using measurements and details which warrant our clients to be satisfied with our product. Because of this, we make sure that no clothing item is unsold or over-stocked.
